The Beginning

CSS-Technologies is my consulting practice.  It started as Control System Services, then as I branched out into technologies beyond process control, the name evolved into CSS-Technologies.

My adventure into what has become a passion began in 1980 after four years of service in the U.S. Navy. I was hired by the City of Palo Alto California. In five years there, I gained the experience to perform as a journey-level Instrumentation Technician.  Then working for a North Bay Instrumentation Contractor for a year, I gained more knowledge in design and start-up projects. After moving to Sonoma County, I found it was time to strike out on my own.

I was told by many that I would never make it billing honest hours for honest work, but that was twenty three years ago.  I’m still here. Many of the others are gone.

The Philosophy

From beginnings in utility automation and process control back in 1986, the goal has always been to provide only the best-

Technolgical Elegance, represented by fast, clean, reliable, simple systems.

After everything is dancing on the head of a pin like it’s supposed to, I have a preference to spend a small amount of time on preventative maintenance rather than more time putting out fires.

You can choose from a lot of people with varying degrees of knowledge at widely ranging prices. The best move is to go with EXPERIENCE as well. It is the indicator of knowledge worth the price.

The Experience

Beyond twenty nine years experience in utilities and process automation and the fifteen years of experience working with Networks and the Internet, I have a wide variety of experience in complementary trades. From process controls and utility automation systems and programmable logic controllers (PLC’s) to automated machine controls, SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Aquisition) systems and radio telemetry.

All elements of my experience help me focus the first job:  making your technology work for you.
